What We Do

Connecting enthusiasts with the world of packrafting, the American Packrafting Association (APA) forges local and national connections to inspire bolder and safer adventures while championing packrafters as stewards of public lands. Our wildly welcoming members make APA the most dynamic and friendly source of information about packrafting, and their passion powers APA. Through education and advocacy, our engaged members are shaping the future of our growing sport.

Introduction to APA

APA provides education and organizes events to promote safety and build skills to recreate more confidently on land and water.

Everyone is immediately welcome at our local and national gatherings thanks to our wildly welcoming community. Enthusiasts of all levels find inspiration for bolder adventures, and have the opportunity to influence the development of APA.

Packrafting is a growing sport and APA advocates for responsible stewardship of our public lands. APA members are passionate about shaping the future of packrafting and championing responsible recreation.

Join Us
Packrafting has exploded in popularity over the last decade and it has brought a huge influx of users who do not have any experience with recreating on rivers. APA helps cultivate a community of people who are dedicated to spreading awareness and best practices for minimizing the risk of this sport.

The [packrafting] community represents the capillaries of the paddling world—traveling far to the outer reaches of watersheds and wild lands. With that comes great opportunity and responsibility.

APA's focus on  developing a culture of safety is a key reason I am a member. The organization is consistent and collaborative— always looking to improve and find new ways of educating the members. Thank you for presenting great information and being great stewards of the environment.

APA facilitates vital connections within our [packrafting] community! I’ve made so many friends at the RoundUps. Thank you, APA, for giving all us clownboat weirdos a place to flock to every year.
